Project OverviewDifficulty Level = Beginner
Create your own custom bi-fold wallet with four vertical card slots on either side for keeping your cards, ID or receipts. Add the optional bill divider to create another long open pocket.

Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Materials and ToolsYou will need a woven or non-stretch fabric. Cotton, quilting cotton, denim, or cotton lawn would work.
NOTE – Fabric thickness will be very important in creating this wallet. There are quite a few layers of fabric to sew through near the end of the tutorial. Please be aware of this when choosing your fabrics.

* If you are using a narrower fabric, a directional print, or a fabric with nap you may need more.
** Make sure to wash, dry, and press all fabrics before cutting out in case they shrink.You will also need:
Tools needed are, sewing machine, pins, scissors, tape measure or ruler. You may find using a denim, topstitch or other heavy needle will help as you will be stitching through multiple layers when you assemble the wallet. Serger/overlocker is optional but not required.
Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.

DividerWallet 2-7 7 Cutting InstructionsCut each of the pieces according to the directions on the pattern piece. Seam allowances are all included so just cut them as is.
Cutting Charts – All pattern pieces are included, however if you prefer to cut using a cutting chart, the dimensions for the rectangular pieces (in INCHES) are below:

Cutting Checklist:
NOTE – To cut fabric on the fold, fold your fabric over parallel to the selvage edges. Align the pattern piece so it is on the fold of the fabric. Cut around the edges, leaving the fold. If you have folded your fabric correctly the fold will be parallel to the two edges of the fabric that are finished. The raw edges (e.g. the ones you could pick at and threads would come off) will be at a right angle to your fold.

- INTERFACING – Apply interfacing to the Main OPTIONAL: Apply to the Wallet Lining pieces and the OPTIONAL Bill Divider.
- CARD SLOTS – Fold one short edge of the Card Slot 2.5 inches to the wrong side. Press. Take the fold and fold it 2 inches to the right side together. Press. This will create the first card slot. Keep repeating until you have four slots. Then repeat on the other side of the Card Slot. OPTIONAL – Topstitch along each folded edge of the card slots. Stitch the Wallet Lining onto the Card Slot, right sides together, leaving 2-inch gap on one short side. Clip the corners. Turn right side out and press.
- OPTIONAL BILL DIVIDER – Fold the OPTIONAL Bill Divider in half, right sides together. Stitch, leaving 2-inch gap on the long side. Turn and press.
- OUTER WALLET – Stitch Main and Wallet Lining right sides together, leaving 2-inch gap on the opposite short side to the Card Slot piece. Turn right side and press. Topstitch one long edge.
- FINISHING – Layer the Wallet, OPTIONAL Bill Divider and Card Slot, right sides facing. Topstitch the bottom and both short sides. Topstitch the bottom edge again.

0.1Interfacing
Use the manufacturer’s instructions to apply interfacing to the wrong side of the Main Wallet piece. Depending on your fabric choice you can interface both Wallet Lining pieces and the OPTIONAL Bill Divider.
1 . Card Slots1.0You will be creating a set of four slots on either side of the Card Slot piece. Use the diagram below to measure the folds or transfer the markings from the pattern piece. NOTE – Please double check the measurements if you have transferred the fold lines from the pattern piece.
1.1Fold one short edge of the Card Slot 2.5 inches to the wrong side. Press.
1.2Take the fold and fold it 2 inches to the right side together. Press.
This will create the first card slot.
1.3Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.2, folding the folded edge from step 1.2 to create the second card slot.
1.4Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.2, folding the folded edge from step 1.3 to create the third card slot.
1.5Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.2, folding the folded edge from step 1.4 to create the fourth card slot.
1.6Repeat steps 1.1 to 1.5 on the other side of the Card Slot, creating four slots.
1.7OPTIONAL – Topstitch along each folded edge of the card slots, using a ⅛ seam allowance.
NOTE – You are only stitching the top of each folded slot. You will need to move the fabric out of the way, so you do not stitch through the entire piece.
1.8Place the Wallet Lining onto the Card Slot, right sides together. Pin.
1.9Stitch along all sides using a ½ inch seam allowance, leaving 2-inch gap on one short side.
1.10Clip the corners to reduce bulk. Be careful not to cut into the stitches.
1.11Turn right side out through the gap. Press.
TIP – Push out the corners with a blunt object, like a chopstick, so that there are crisp, sharp edges and corners.
2 . OPTIONAL Bill Divider2.0If you are not adding the OPTIONAL Bill Divider, skip to step 3. If you are adding it, follow below.
2.1Fold the OPTIONAL Bill Divider in half, right sides together. Pin.
2.2Stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance, leaving 2-inch gap on the long side.
2.3Clip the corners to reduce bulk. Be careful not to cut into the stitches.
2.4Turn right side out and press.
OPTIONAL: Topstitch the folded edge using ⅛ inch seam allowance.
3 . Outer Wallet3.1Place a Main Wallet and Wallet Lining piece right sides together. Pin.
NOTE – This is the second Wallet Lining piece.
3.2Stitch using a ½ inch seam allowance, leaving 2-inch gap on the opposite short side to the Card Slot piece.
3.3Clip the corners to reduce bulk. Be careful not to cut into the stitches.
3.4Turn right side out through the gap. Press.
3.5Topstitch one long edge using a ⅛ inch seam allowance.
NOTE – If you are using directional fabric this will be your top edge. Check that your fabric is the correct way.
4 . Finishing4.1Lay the Wallet Lining side right side up.
OPTIONAL Bill Divider – If you are adding this, place it on top of the Wallet Lining, right sides together, matching the bottom edge of the Wallet Lining to the raw edge of the Bill Divider.
Place the Card Slot on top, Lining side down. Pin along the bottom edge and both short sides.
NOTE – Check that all your pieces are the correct way round.
4.2Topstitch along both short edges and the bottom long edge, using a ⅛ seam allowance, stitching all the gaps closed.
NOTE – Do not stitch the top long edge.
4.3Topstitch again along the bottom edge using a ⅛ seam allowance. This will reinforce the stitching.
Press the entire Wallet while open then again once folded to help keep its shape.
TIP – Use steam when pressing.
