Project OverviewDolls House Quiet Book Add On
Difficulty Level = Beginner / Intermediate
This is an add-on to the Dolls House Quiet Book. You will need the original Dolls House Quiet Book to complete the pattern.
The original pattern will help you create the quiet book pages. Then you can mix and match any of the décor and page options from this add-on and the original. This add on will also show you some different construction methods.
Feel free to pick whichever methods and pattern pieces you like the most between the two patterns and let your imagination go wild! Add embellishments, extra pages, combine elements. Have fun and make sure to show us what you make!
If you’d like a matching ballerina doll to add to your house, the Sienna Doll is a perfect fit!
Our Facebook group is a great place to get help, share your tips and creations! We are a friendly bunch, and we love to help and see what you have made.
Please read the full instructions before getting started.
Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!
SizingSize Range
Craft
Materials and ToolsTools needed are sewing machine (or you could do it by hand), needle (as mentioned above, this project can get quite thick. You might find it easier to use a needle designed for thicker projects, rather than the standard needle size), scissors, pins.
Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.
Please follow this video for information and assistance on assembling this pattern.
Also, please note that some Rebecca Page patterns and projects also come with cut files and a printable design page which you can use to plan your project if you wish. These are provided in a separate section below to avoid any confusion!

File Types
We have included three to four file types for you to choose from. Please choose whichever you are more familiar with or works best with your cutting machine. For cut files of the smaller pieces for some of our patterns, like the Dolls House Quiet Book and Add-on, we do not include a PDF copy. All versions come with .SVG, .PNG, and .DXF.
You will start by downloading the files from your account. Open your software and choose the file type you’d like to work with.
Pattern Cut Files
When working with cut files to cut small pattern pieces, it is imperative that you make sure the file is the correct size prior to cutting. We have included a one-inch square box offset in each file. You should be able to move the square off to the side, so it isn’t cut with the rest of your file. For files that also have square pieces, please be sure to compare them to the cut chart in the original file instructions. We’d always prefer you double check than have something cut out that isn’t useable!
Other Cut Files
For all other cut files, you should resize to your project needs. Please do keep in mind the size of some of the features. Going very small may make it difficult to cut smaller fonts or finer details.
Media
As mentioned earlier, it is very important to choose the correct media to for your cut. There is a huge selection to choose from and it can be overwhelming. Be sure to use the materials suggested by your machine for the type of project you are completing.

Quick Glance Cheat Sheet⅜ inch seam allowance included – Top stitching ⅛ inch – Basting ¼ inch
Sewing –
1 . DollsSeam Allowance
⅜ inch seam allowance included – Top stitching ⅛ inch – Basting ¼ inch
1.0This Add-On includes a boy or girl option, a few different hairstyles to choose from, and an optional skirt. These new Dolls can be customized/personalized to your child.
Choose between no hair, Side Swept Bangs, or Straight Bangs. There is also an optional ponytail which you can use to give your doll pigtails, or a cute single side ponytail.
1.1If you are doing the Straight Bangs, skip to step 1.3.
For the Side Swept Bangs option, take piece B, and pin it to the top, right side of the Doll’s head. Stitch along the bottom curved edge, along the face.
1.2Now, pin piece A to the left side of face, overlapping piece B. Stitch along the bottom curved edge, along the face.
1.3For the Straight Bangs, pin the Bangs (C) piece to the front of the Doll’s head/face piece with both pieces facing up.
Stitch along the bottom edge of bangs, across the face.
1.4OPTIONAL – If you wish to add 1 or 2 ponytails, follow below. Otherwise skip to step 1.6.
For each ponytail, pin the ponytail pieces, wrong sides together.
Stitch around edges leaving the short straight edge open.
1.5Pin each ponytail, right sides together, in the desired location. The ponytails should be facing into the face so that when we stitch the two sides of the head together later, they will be out of the way but caught in the seam.
Baste in place using a ¼ inch seam allowance.
TIP – If you haven’t done basting before, it is a long loose stitch that holds fabric in place. It is not a permanent stitch that you will see but a temporary stitch that you can either remove or hide within the seam allowance. Some machines will have a ‘basting’ setting, use this if it does. Alternatively, lengthen your stitch so it is long and loose. Do not secure the ends of the stitching but instead leave them free so you can remove it later easily if it shows in the finished doll.
1.6Once you have the Doll’s hair as you would like it, apply the face.
Use the Head pattern piece as a template or create your own. Get creative! Use embroidery, fabric paint, buttons, vinyl, or anything you’d like!
1.7Take your front Body piece and pin it at the neck, right sides facing, to the Dolls face piece. Stitch with ½ inch seam allowance.
1.8Press seam allowance down, towards Doll’s Body and topstitch with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
Repeat with the Doll’s back Body and Head pieces.
1.9Pin the front and back, right sides together. Stitch together using ½ inch seam allowance, leaving bottom open.
Trim seam allowances and clip sharp angles (careful not to cut stitches).
1.10OPTIONAL SKIRT – Pin the skirt pieces together and sew the sides using ½ inch seam allowance. Use desired method to finish the seam allowance (e.g. serger, pinking shears, etc.).
1.11Use your favorite method to hem the skirt using ½ inch hem allowance.
Run a gathering stitch along the top of the skirt.
Turn skirt right side out and insert inside Doll’s body, right sides facing, matching up side seams. Gather to fit and baste in place.
NOTE – You may need to hand stitch if opening is too small for your machine.
1.12Retrieve your Doll Legs and add embellishments if desired (e.g. pockets, patches, etc.).
1.13Pin leg pieces, right sides together, and sew using ½ inch seam allowance, leaving the top open.
1.14Turn legs right side out and insert inside the Doll’s Body, matching up side seams.
1.15Sew using ½ inch seam allowance, leaving a small gap for turning.
NOTE – You may need to hand stitch if opening is too small for your machine.
1.16Pull Doll right side out through the opening. Stuff Doll with Polyfill and use a ladder (invisible) stitch to close it up.
NOTE – If you aren’t familiar with a ladder or blind stitch, get a needle and a long thread. Knot one end of the thread.
Slide the needle through the gap and under your seam allowance, coming out to the right side on your seam line. Slide the needle down the through opposite seam line, directly across from where you came up.
From inside, move down a stitch length and come back up through the seam line on the original side. Continue along the length of your gap. On your last stitch, secure the end of your thread.
2 . Door with Button Closure / Flower Box2.1Door with Button Closure assembly: Apply interfacing (use manufacturer instructions) to wrong side of one of your Main Door pieces. Sew embellishments if desired.
Pin the other door on interfaced door piece, right sides together.
2.2Stitch around, leaving a 2-inch gap for turning.
Clip corners and turn right side out. Press.
Edgestitch around the perimeter of the Door, closing the opening in the process.
Sew a button hole where you would like the Door Knob to be.
Set aside.
2.3Applying the Door to the Dolls House: Take your 3rd (accent) Door piece, and pin in desired location on Dolls House.
Sew Perimeter.
2.4Pin Door Frame on top, overlapping door piece slightly.
Sew Perimeter of Door Frame.
2.5Retrieve your assembled Door and pin in center of frame.
Sew down the Left side only.
OPTIONAL – Use a twin needle or sew a second line for more ‘staying power’.
Sew your button to the Dolls House, using your button hole as your placement guide.
2.6Flower Box: Pin main Flower Box piece (A) in desired location. Sew its perimeter.
2.7Then, place the Flower Box Trim (B) along the top of the main piece, overlapping slightly. Sew perimeter.
Refer to Original Dolls House instructions (Step 4) to make button flowers to fill your Flower Box.
3 . Road and Hillside3.0Vehicles have been a popular request since the release of the original Dolls House pattern. This Road and Hillside are the perfect backdrop.
3.1Road and Hillside: Pin the Hillside to the page, lining the top of the hillside with the corner of the page.
Sew entire perimeter of Hillside.
3.2Pin the road across the page, overlapping the bottom of the hill slightly. Sew perimeter.
3.3OPTIONAL – Hand stitch (or use fabric paint) median lines down the middle of the road.
Use the markings on the Road pattern piece to mark your button holes.
3.4Car: Pin batting to wrong side of front Car piece. Baste in place around perimeter using ¼ inch seam allowance.
Use pattern as template to place the window. Sew perimeter of window.
3.5Pin a ribbon to the front of the car and another ribbon to the back of the car, matching raw edges (use pattern markings for placement). Baste ribbons in place with ¼ inch seam allowance.
Roll up the ribbons and pin in center of car to keep them out of the way for the next step.
3.6Take the other car piece and pin, right sides facing, to the car. Sew, using ½ inch seam allowance Leave an opening for turning.
Clip corners and trim seam allowance around curves.
3.7Turn right side out and press. Topstitch with ⅛ inch seam allowance, closing opening in the process.
3.8OPTIONAL – Stitch car feature, such as door, headlights, etc.
Sew on buttons for wheels (½ to ¾ inch work best).
3.9Airplane: Pin batting to wrong side of front Airplane piece. Baste in place around perimeter using ¼ inch seam allowance.
OPTIONAL – Embellish the airplane with a piece of contrasting ribbon. Sew along each side.
3.10Pin a ribbon to the front of the Airplane and another ribbon to the back of the Airplane, matching raw edges (use pattern markings for placement). Baste ribbons in place with ¼ inch seam allowance.
Roll up the ribbons and pin in center of airplane to keep them out of the way for the next step.
3.11Take the other airplane piece and pin, right sides facing. Sew, using ½ inch seam allowance Leave an opening for turning.
Clip corners and trim seam allowance around curves.
3.12Turn right side out and press. Topstitch with ⅛ inch seam allowance, closing opening in the process.
3.13Ribbon tabs: Take a ribbon from car or airplane and sandwich between 2 tabs pieces.
3.14Pin together and sew perimeter of Tab, enclosing the ribbon.
OPTIONAL – Sew over the ribbon a couple of times for better holding power.
Repeat for the other tab.
3.15Use the Road pattern piece to transfer the button hole markings (2 button holes on each side of Dolls House page). Sew your button holes.
Roll up the left-hand tab on your car or airplane.
TIP – A bodkin or safety pin will help keep it rolled.
3.16Push it thru the inside buttonhole on the left side of your Dolls House page.
3.17Then, bring the rolled-up tab up and thru the outside buttonhole.
3.18Repeat with the other tab on the right-hand side of the Dolls House page.
4 . Farm: Barn4.0Use the new Front Door Piece included in this Add-On to make double doors for the Barn, or French Doors.
4.1Barn Door Assembly: Apply the Interfacing (use manufacturer instructions) to the front pieces of your doors.
Take one of those interfaced pieces and start applying trim (omit the diagonal trim for French Doors).
Start with the diagonal trim. Take one Diagonal Trim piece and pin from corner to corner (see pic). Sew perimeter of trim with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
4.2Repeat with other diagonal trim piece on opposite corners to form an ‘X’.
4.3Next, take the long side pieces and pin to each side edge of door. Sew perimeter of trim with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
4.4Now, take the shorter pieces and pin them to the top and bottom edges of door. Sew perimeter of trim with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
4.5Retrieve your piece of ribbon. Fold it in half and pin to the center edge on the right side of your door, matching raw edges. Baste in place with ¼ inch seam allowance.
4.6Take a door lining piece and pin to your door, right sides facing. Sew with ½ inch seam allowance, leaving 2 inches open for turning.
Trim corners, turn right side out and press. Edgestitch all the way around with ⅛ inch seam allowance, closing the opening.
Repeat all these steps for the second door (omitting the ribbon). Instead, sew a button (½ inch) to the front, left side of your door (to correspond with the ribbon).
4.7Set doors aside.
4.8Applying Barn Doors to the Dolls House: Retrieve the Main Barn Door piece. Pin in desired location on the Dolls House. Sew perimeter with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
4.9Take the Barn Door Frame and pin it around the outside of the Main piece, overlapping slightly. Sew perimeter with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
4.10Now, place your Barn Doors side-by-side on top of the Door Frame and pin in place. It helps to have ribbon looped over the button to find the correct placement (this way, you’ll know the doors with button shut properly).
Stitch down the outside edge of each door (the left side for the left door, and the right side for the right door.)
To add a little Peek-a-boo friend to your Barn Door, follow instructions for the Chick ‘n Egg Finger Puppet.
The Chick ‘n Egg Finger Puppet is fun way to add a little Peek-a-boo surprise to your Dolls House. It will also engage your child and inspire imaginative play. Make just one chick or sew up a whole brood (can approximately fit about 3 inside the egg shell).
4.11Egg Shell: Pin the Egg Shell pieces, right sides together. Sew the top, jagged edge only with ½ inch seam allowance.
Trim seam allowance and clip angles as close to seam as possible (without cutting the seam).
Flip the egg right side out and press seam. Topstitch seam with ⅛ inch seam allowance
4.12Pin Eggshell in desired location. Here, it’s going in the Barn Door, but you can put it anywhere in the book!
Sew around the curved edge to secure in place. Leave the top open to form a pocket.
4.13Chick Finger Puppet: Go ahead and apply the interfacing to the Main Front piece.
Transfer facial features to your Main Front piece. Use your method of choice to create the chicks face (e.g. embroidery, fabric paint, etc.)
4.14Now, take all 4 pieces (both main and both lining) and fold the bottom edges up (wrong sides facing) ½ inch and press to make a memory hem.
Unfold them again and pin the 2 main pieces right sides together. Repeat for the lining pieces.
Sew from the bottom left corner, up and around the curve to the bottom right corner on both. Be sure to leave the bottom open.
4.15Turn the Main piece inside out and fold the bottom hem back up (wrong sides facing). The memory hem you made earlier should make this easy. Fold the hem on the lining and insert the lining inside the chick (wrong sides facing).
4.16Hand stitch the pieces together. A blanket stitch works well here.
5 . Farm: Outhouse5.0Every farm needs a primitive outside, amiright? In addition to the new Outhouse pieces, you will also need the Toilet Tank and the Toilet Lid pieces from the new Bathroom addition.
5.1Outhouse: Start by pinning the Main Outhouse piece in the desired location (it is meant to sit slightly slanted, like an old run-down building). Sew around the perimeter.
5.2Then, apply your side trim pieces. Pin in place and sew around their perimeters.
5.3Now, pin the bottom trim in place and sew the perimeter.
Do the same with the roof pieces.
5.4Retrieve your toilet tank piece. This is going to be used as a primitive toilet bench. Pin near the bottom of the Outhouse. Sew around the perimeter.
5.5Pin the toilet lid just above your primitive toilet bench and sew around the perimeter.
5.6Make a door for your Outhouse (refer to the New Front Door instructions on step 2.5 to give your Outhouse a door).
TIP – Use the Moon piece from the original Dolls House pattern to embellish your Outhouse Door.
Pin door in place and sew along the left side.
TIP – Use a bar tack stitch to resemble hinges.
5.7A primitive Outhouse wouldn’t be complete without a Primitive Tub and Water Pump – need a place to wash up, of course!
Pin the tub right sides together and sew the top only with ½ inch seam allowance.
5.8Flip the tub right side out, press the seam and topstitch with ⅛ in seam allowance.
5.9Pin tub in desired location and sew around, starting at the top right corner, down and around to the top left corner. Leave the top open to form a pocket.
Pin the Water Pump in desired location. Sew around the perimeter.
5.10Pin your sun where you’d like it. Sew around all edges.
OPTIONAL – Use ribbon, embroidery, or other embellishments to make water coming out of the pump and for sunshine emanating from the sun!
6 . Farm: Tractor6.0The Tractor features a handy pocket to fit your Doll inside.
6.1Take your Large Wheel and cut out the Middle (use pattern piece as template) to resemble a tire.
6.2Lay your tire on top of the other (contrasting) wheel piece and stitch in place.
Repeat for the small Wheel.
Set Wheels aside for now
6.3Pin Pocket piece (B), right sides facing, to the top of the Main Tractor (A). Sew along the top using ½ inch seam allowance.
Turn right side out and press seam. Topstitch seam with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
6.4Pin the Wheels to the Main Tractor piece (A). Use the pattern piece (A) as a template for Wheel placement.
Sew any embellishments you desire (use Main pattern piece (A) as a template).
6.5Pin Tractor in desired location on Dolls House page.
6.6Pin the Exhaust piece, using pattern markings as a guide. It helps to flip the top of the Tractor piece out of the way while sewing the Exhaust.
6.7Sew entire perimeter of Tractor, as well as inside the cab. Be sure to leave the pocket open.
7 . Garden7.0Harvest fresh veggies (corn, carrots, and potatoes) or plant button flowers in this interactive raised garden.
7.1Pin Main Garden piece in center of Dolls house page, about 1 inch from the bottom. Sew the entire perimeter of garden.
7.2For the Pocket, pin the Main pocket piece to the pocket lining, right sides together.
Sew along the top edge only using ½ inch seam allowance.
Flip the pocket right side out and press the seam.
Topstitch the seam with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
7.3Place the pocket at the bottom of garden, lining up the bottom edges.
Sew around the sides and bottom, leaving the top open to form a pocket.
7.4Pin the long trim pieces along the sides of the raised garden.
Sew around perimeter on each.
7.5Pin the short trim pieces along the top and bottom of the raised garden.
Sew around perimeter on each.
Time to add some crops. You can add a Harvestable Corn, Carrots, or Potatoes, or make all three!
To make Corns, follow the steps below. To make Carrots or Potatoes, skip to step 7.17.
To plant Button Flowers, refer to Step 4 of original Dolls House instructions.
7.6Pin them in desired location.
Sew around entire perimeter of each corn stalk.
TIP – Take it slow. There are a lot of twists and turns.
7.7Pin 1 Main Husk piece with a lining piece, right sides together.
Sew the top edge only, using ½ inch seam allowance.

Topstitch the seam with ⅛ inch seam allowance.
Repeat for the other husk.
7.9Place 1 husk piece in desired location on Corn Stalk and pin in place.
7.10Take the other Husk piece and overlap on top (so it resembles a tulip) and pin in place.
Sew around sides and bottom only, leaving the top open to form a pocket.
Follow the next instructions to make the Corn.
7.11Pin the batting to the wrong side of 1 of your corn pieces.
7.12Sew a series of horizontal lines (about ¼ in apart) along the entire piece of corn.
7.13Now, sew a series of vertical lines to form a grid. Should resemble corn kernels.
7.14Take the other corn piece, and pin it (right sides facing) to your corn on the cob.
Sew around perimeter using ½ inch seam allowance, leaving a 2-inch opening for turning.
7.15Turn right side out and press.
Topstitch with ⅛ inch seam allowance, closing opening in the process.
7.16Slip corn inside the corn husk for Harvestable Corn.
7.17Assembly for the Harvestable Carrots and Potatoes is very similar with the Corn. The Carrots use the same pattern piece as the corn, while the Potato has a different piece. The only difference is that the carrots have different feature lines than the corn and have “greens” that come from the top.
Pin the batting to the wrong side of 1 of your potato / carrot pieces.
FOR CARROT PIECE ONLY – Sew a few horizontal lines, to resemble a carrot.
Take the other piece, and pin it (right sides facing) to your first piece.
Sew around perimeter using ½ inch seam allowance, leaving a 2-inch opening for turning.
Turn right side out and press.
7.18FOR CARROT PIECE ONLY – Retrieve your ribbon and loop it a few times. Baste the end to hold loops in place. Insert the basted end of the ribbon inside the carrot opening and pin place.
7.19Topstitch with ⅛ inch seam allowance, closing opening and securing the “greens”.
FOR POTATO PIECE ONLY – If desired, use French knots to create “eyes” in your potato.

11 . Assembling Interchangeable Pages11.0This Add-On features a new assembly method for pages that tie together, giving you the freedom to include as many pages as you want. You can add or change pages as your child grows, and interests change. This new construction still uses the same pattern pieces as the original Dolls House Quiet Book. In addition, you will need about 3 feet of cording material to tie the pages together (e.g. Ribbon, Shoelace, Leather Strap, etc.)
11.1First, make your pages. Make sure you have both of your outside pages with roofs (if you still want your quiet book to look like a house) and at least 2 inside pages.
Follow the same instructions in the original Dolls House pattern for applying the shoulder straps and ties to your outside pages, Steps 10.2 to 10.3.
Now, take your Front House page and pin it right sides together to one of your interior pages (I’m using the Bathroom page here).
Stitch together (½ inch seam allowance), leaving 4 inches opening for turning.
11.2Clip corners and roof peak, turn Page right side out, and press. Topstitch all the way around the page, closing the opening in the process.
Repeat last 5 steps with the Back House Page and other interior page.
11.3Use the Button Hole Guide (included with this Add-On) to sew 5 button holes along the LEFT-HAND side of the Front House Page.
11.4Then, sew 5 button holes along the RIGHT-HAND side of the Back House Page.
TIP – Grommets can be substituted for Button Holes.
For additional pages, repeat these steps using 2 interior pages, omitting the shoulder straps and ties.

Cut Files

Project Overview
Dolls House Quiet Book Add On
Difficulty Level = Beginner / Intermediate
