Description
The ideal use for all your woven scraps, this fabric envelope sewing pattern makes a perfectly-sized envelope for gift cards and other small trinkets. Features press stud/ snap closure, two style options, and optional stamp and address line decorations.

- +Preparation
- 1x ⅜ wide Snap or a small piece of hook and loop tape. You can use anything a similar size or smaller.
- Light-weight iron on Interfacing – a fat quarter will be sufficient
- OPTIONAL – Wash Away Adhesive Tape

Project OverviewGift Card Envelope

Sew a super cute gift card envelope – the perfect little pouch for your gift cards. You can either sew a simple design from one piece which is folded up, or an option to create separate pieces which looks like a real envelope. You can personalise the front to look like a letter with a stamp and write the name and address of the person you are gifting it to. Or add any embelishments, vinyl, fabric paints etc to create something truly unique. The perfect keepsake for the special people in our lives.

Please read the full instructions before getting started.
Wash, dry, and press your fabric before starting your project. A bit of prep now prevents shrinking and means your garment will stay the same size you made it.
Never leave a child or baby unattended or allow to sleep in a garment made from one of our patterns with ties, snaps, buttons, or anything they could remove, choke on, or get caught on. Always use caution if you are unsure. We love our patterns, but we love your bundles of joy more!

Materials and ToolsFabric – You will need to use a woven fabric. Great examples are cotton or quilting cotton. If you are writing on the Front, it is best to use a plain fabric so that it is easily read. Do not use a stretch fabric.

Printing Your PatternSettings
The pattern is a separate download. Choose either the US letter paper, A4 paper, or A0 paper size based on the printer you wish to use. If you are in the US or Canada then your printer will likely use US letter paper. Other regions normally use A4 paper. Some people prefer to print their patterns at a print shop: A0 is best in this case.
Print at 100%.
On the second page, you will find a 1-inch and a 3-inch square test box. Print this page first, on its own, and measure these squares.
Once you are happy that the test box is accurate, print the rest of the pattern pages.

OPTION A OPTION B ONE Size 2 3 Cutting InstructionsCut each of the pieces according to the directions on the pattern piece. Seam allowances are all included so just cut them as is.

- INTERFACING – Apply interfacing to all pieces.
- PATTERN MARKINGS – Transfer pattern markings.
- OPTION A – Decorate right side of Main Envelope. Place Main and Lining Envelope pieces right sides together. Stitch all edges, leaving a 2 inch gap along one straight side edge. Clip corners and trim. Snip into the seam allowance at bottom center point. Turn right side out and press. Topstitch the outside edges. Fold bottom edge up, meeting bottom corner points to just the top of the straight edge. Topstitch along the side edges. Apply snap or hook and loop tape.
- OPTION B – Decorate the right side of the Main Envelope as desired. Place Main and Lining Front pieces right sides together. Pin all edges. Stitch, leaving a 2 inch gap along the bottom straight edge. Clip corners and trim. Turn right side out and press. OPTIONAL Topstitch all the way around the outside. Place Main and Lining Back Side pieces right sides together. Pin all edges. Stitch, leaving a 1 – 1 ½ inch gap along bottom straight edge for turning. Clip corners and trim seam allowance. Turn right side out and press. OPTIONAL Topstitch the top angled edge. Repeat for second Main and Lining Back Side pieces. Repeat with Main and Lining Back Bottom pieces. Lay Main Back pieces right side up. Place Back Bottom piece over Back Side pieces, overlapping by ⅛ inch. Check fit against Front. Adjust the overlap if needed. Topstitch along angled edges of Back Bottom. Lay Front with Lining right side up. Place Back Lining right side together. Pin short side edges and long bottom edge. Topstitch. Apply snap or hook and loop tape.

0.1Interfacing
Using the manufacturer’s instructions, apply iron-on interfacing to all your pieces.
0.2Pattern Markings
Transfer all pattern markings to the fabric using a disappearing ink pen or tailor’s chalk.
1 . OPTION A1.1Decorate the right side of the Main Envelope as desired.
If you would like to replicate what we have done here, stitch straight lines over the pattern markings in the center and upper left corner.
Then place the Stamp right side facing up and stitch just inside it by ⅛ inch.
1.2Place the Main and Lining Envelope pieces right sides together. Pin all edges.
1.6Turn the Envelope right sides out.
TIP – Push out the corners with a blunt object, like a chopstick, so that there are crisp, sharp edges and corners.
1.7Press the Envelope.
1.8Topstitch ⅛ inch from the edge all the way around the outside edges, closing the gap left in step 1.3.
1.9Fold the bottom edge up, bringing the bottom corner points up to just the top of the straight edge. Pin.
NOTE – Before stitching, fold the top down to check how the envelope will sit once closed. Adjust as needed.
1.10Topstitch along the side edges, over the previous stitch lines.
1.11Using the manufacturer’s instructions, install a snap or hook and loop tape at the tip of the Front Lining and the angled edge of the Main Front.
Your Gift Card Envelope is finished!
2 . OPTION B2.1Decorate the right side of the Main Envelope as desired.
If you would like to replicate what we have done here, stitch straight lines over the pattern markings in the center and upper left corner.
Then place the Stamp right side facing up and stitch just inside it by ⅛ inch.
2.4Turn the Envelope right sides out.
TIP – Push out the corners with a blunt object, like a chopstick, so that there are crisp, sharp edges and corners.

2.5OPTIONAL – Topstitch ⅛ inch from the edge all the way around the outside.
2.7Repeat step 2.6 with the Main and Lining Back Bottom pieces.
2.8Lay the Main Back pieces right side up. Place the Back Bottom piece over the Back Side pieces, overlapping them by approximately ⅛ inch.
Place these pinned pieces on top of the Front piece to check they all fit together nicely. Adjust the overlap as needed.
NOTE – Do not pin the Back pieces to the Front, only the three Back pieces will be pinned together.
TIP – Use wash away adhesive tape when overlapping the Main Back piece and Back Bottom pieces to help keep them aligned as it can be difficult to pin so many layers together.
2.9Topstitch along the angled edges of the Back Bottom, ⅛ inch from the edge.
NOTE – As you are sewing through many layers here, stitch slowly to reduce the risk of breaking a needle.
2.10Lay the Front with the Lining right side up. Place the Back Lining right side facing down toward the Front Lining. Pin the short side edges and the long bottom edge.
NOTE – Before stitching, fold the top down to check how the envelope will sit once closed. Adjust as needed.
2.11Topstitch along the sides and bottom ⅛ inch away from the edge.
NOTE – If you have topstitched previously, you will be stitching directly over those stitches.
TIP – Sew slowly as this section is bulky and slowing down can help reduce the risk of breaking a needle.
Using the manufacturer’s instructions, install a snap or hook and loop tape at the tip of the Front Lining and the top of the Main Back Bottom.
